KayKay #CRB6 Review #31 Undeniably Yours by Heather Webber

untitled (2)

After a serious fantasy read of The Blade Itself, I decided to try something a little lighter, which was perfect because I have the new Lucy Valentine book Undeniably Yours.  It’s the fifth in the series of books centered around the gifted Valentine family.  Most of the family can see auras and help people find true love based on that.  Lucy was struck by lightening and lost the ability to see auras, but she can find lost objects (she gets ‘reads’ from their owners) and she can get visions of what a person is seeing if she smells something that has their scent.  I enjoy the series (I have stuck with it to book 5),  I give this book 3 stars.

Here’s a breakdown…

**SPOILER ALERT**

My book reviews are written as a discussion of a book, and not as an advertisement.  Please be aware that there may be information that some would consider spoilers.  Continue on at your own risk!

What is this book about?

This book starts a few days after the previous one has ended.  Lucy and her boyfriend Sean are recovering from an attack.  Aiden, a cop and engaged to Lucy’s best friend Em, shows up at her door with his daughter (Ava).  Ava’s mother- a news reporter Kira, dropped Ava off with Aiden (he didn’t even know he had a kid) and disappeared.  This starts a big mystery of disappearing kids, missing reporters, and evil social workers.  Needless to say there is a lot of misdirection, some mis-placed trust, some people end up dead, some nearly dead.  Lucy survives, and those she loves are in tack, while they have gained Ava in their extended family.

What did I think about this book?

I wish that there was more fantasy than mystery.  Lucy barely got to use her skills.  I don’t even think there was any new match making in this book.  There doesn’t seem to be any overarching mysteries to tie the series together.  I don’t feel a pressing need to read another entry in this series.
